Come and Weave is a self-help ‘practical’ subgroup of the Cambs Guild.
We meet to share the enjoyment of weaving of all kinds: back-strap, inkle, multi-shaft table looms, peg, rigid heddle, tablet and tapestry. Some members spin on drop spindles or wheels, and some take a break to do some knitting, crochet or sew shibori for dyeing. We have a range of skill levels from beginners to very experienced. We bring our own tools and materials for our own projects. The days are fun and very social.
Membership of Come and Weave is open to all Cambs Guild members on payment of an additional fee. For 2026 this is £12/year (see the current membership form from the Join us page). This pays for room hire at Comberton Village Hall CB23 7DY. What3words.
Upcoming dates:
The hours are 10 am to 4 pm (sometimes we finish early). Members can turn up for the whole day or just drop in for part of it. We have a rota for keys and opening up/closing up – volunteers are always welcome.

History of Come and Weave
The Come and Weave group started as a small group of novice weavers who had taken Anna Crutchley’s Weaving course at Cottenham Summer School and then continued to meet in each other’s homes. The need for more space for looms resulted in the move to the current meeting place of Comberton Village Hall. At first, the group was called the New Weavers group and had continued mentoring from Anna. After three years, the group had gained more weaving expertise and were keen to encourage more experienced weavers from the Guild to join them – thus the Come and Weave group was born.
