The Cambridgeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers aims to promote the highest standards of craftsmanship and design in handweaving, spinning, dying and constructed textiles.
Everyone with an interest in textiles is welcome to join us, whatever your level of skill or experience. We
- Organise a comprehensive programme of speakers in Arbury (North Cambridge) on a wide range of textile subjects including related matters such as history and archaeology.
- Offer several practical workshops each year on different topics, usually at Comberton (Cambs). Our speaker meetings and workshops are available to non-members on payment of a fee.
- Have two study groups available to Guild members: Come and Weave and Textile Traditions. There is a small additional fee for Come and Weave, which is held in Comberton. TTSG is included in Guild membership and meets in central Cambridge.
- Organise an exhibition of members’ work every three years, which is free for anyone to attend. It is held in Granchester (Cambs).
- Have a well-stocked library for Guild members’ use (see password-protected area for the catalogue).
The Guild is affiliated to the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers which:
- Publishes The Journal.
- Writes a regular newsletter, which is e-mailed to our Guild members.
- Provides for us public liability insurance.
- Has its own library.
