Silk in drapery & portraiture – Mary Schoeser
June 23 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
We’re delighted to welcome as our speaker Mary Schoeser, internationally-renowned textile and wallpaper historian, Patron of the School of Textiles and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Victoria & Albert Museum, one of the co-authors of the Yale University Volume ‘Silk’. Mary has also been consulted for her silk expertise by English Heritage, the National Trust and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Come along to hear more about silk, its creation and its use as an expression of wealth and privilege, alluringly displayed in portraiture. Talk starts at 2pm promptly at Arbury, as usual. We look forward to seeing you there.
